The Shirk Off mix CD best of Splank! OUT NOW 17 Years, 5 Months ago Karma: 0

‘The Shirk Off’ mixed by Groove Allegiance has finally officially landed in all good record & download stores worldwide, and has been anything but a shirk off if truth be said.

This is Splank!’s first foray into the CD world and serves as a great introduction for those who are new to the label. It’s also a sneaky peak at what’s forthcoming on Splank!, or even a nod towards one or two releases you may have missed out on first time round, as the label’s best releases are mixed together from the past, present & future.

There’s originals and remixes from the likes of Moston & Malente, Strider, Drumattic Twins, Darftphunk, Nick Thayer, Hexadecimal and Groove Allegiance … amongst others.

Download the 5min mini mix for free off our site to get a little taster.

Some reviews for you…

Review in IDJ Magazine (June Issue)
Groove Allegiance 'The Shirk Off' Splank!
“Three years in the game, and I honestly don’t think the breaks imprint Splank! have dropped the ball once. With a strong and steady output, each release goes under label head honchos Groove Allegiance’s eagle ears and won’t see the light of day until they’re 100 per cent happy that it fits Splank!’s cheeky, energetic p-funk sound. As a result, you know exactly what you’re getting with a Splank! record; premium funk with added bounce. Such a strict music policy also means the singles mix rather well together, as proved by ‘The Shirk Off’ a collection of Splank!’s finest moments, past, present and future. Go ahead, treat yourself and get jiggy as Groove Allegiance spin us through the deep, old skool flavours of Scissorkicks’ remix of Sgt Rock’s ‘No Skool’, the happy slap bass twanging of their own ‘Moonfrog Drive’, the wild acid tweaks of Darfphunk & Slackshot’s ‘I Dance U’ and plenty more. For solid p-funk flavours this won’t fail.” 4/5

The Shirk Off - Mixed By Groove Allegiance Splank!
“Breaks got the funk. Splank Records’ mission statement is keeping breaks as funky and musical as possible. So this label grab-bag delivers freaky guitar licks, sleazy acid wubs and plenty of tech-funk goodness. Phonat’s ‘Burnin’ takes the electro-house blueprint kicking and screaming to the breaks party, and shows it the time of its life. A strong selection. Ben Murphy
Mint Track: Groove Allegiance ‘The Moonfrog Jive’” 3.5/5
