Mike Butler’s style of DJing brings the energy and style that is demanded of those performing in the electronic music scene today. Playing anywhere from club lounge house sets, to dub-flavored heavy-hitting breaks sets, he brings with him a knowledge of electronic dance music that translates into fun performances that keep crowds moving.
Being first exposed to trance, Mike began his DJing quest with songs that were made for sold-out stadiums with thousands of hands in the air. Moving into the slower-paced house genre of the scene, he began to incorporate tunes that were made for funky club-dancing. From there, Mike ventured into the likes of breaks, dubstep, and drum-and-bass, rounding out an all-encompassing style of musical flair that has become his signature when playing live. During this journey through the spectrum of electronic dance music, Mike Butler was privileged to display his musical travels through DJing. In San Diego, Mike became part of a DJ Collective known as Starry Eyed Music. Through this affiliation, he was able to hold DJ residencies at venues such as The W Hotel and The Ivy, as well as getting the opportunity to play at other venues such as Spin Night Club and On Broadway. In March of 2009, Mike traveled to Miami to play at the Winter Music Conference with DJ partner Ben Cohen (together known as Men On Bikes). There, the DJ duo was able to impress a knowledgeable crowd, hearing from one Miami-native working at the venue claim, “It was the best set I’ve ever heard.” In addition to Miami, Mike has played in the San Francisco Bay Area and the Burning Man Festival in Nevada, successfully playing a variety of platforms with varying and very pleased crowds.
Keeping an open ear, Mike Butler has now become an up-and-coming producer. With his productions being downloaded in several different countries, his unique style is being heard around the world. No matter what genre of electronic dance music you enjoy listening to, you can bet that Mike Butler has a song just for you.
With regular gigs in the San Francisco Bay Area and San Diego, Mike Butler is on the move and there is no end to his passion and pursuance of electronic dance music. It is his driving force that has brought him to places such as Miami and Black Rock City, and that will bring him to the forefront of dance music, both as a performer and a producer.
